First of all, I would like to blame my newest addiction on my friend Juliana. She has introduced me to the fascinating world of Twitter. The annual Summer Crop at A Cherry On Top is this weekend! There will be three days of challenges, games, prizes and online classes. The fun starts Friday, August 22 at 3pm EST and ends Sunday, August 24 at 9pm. What a bash! The full schedule and details can be found HERE at ACOT. I love that the crop is all hours of the day so everyone can pop in when they have the time. This will be my first ACOT crop and although it looks a bit intimidating, the prizes are going to be well worth it.

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, today was a very relaxing day for me. :) I sat back and folded laundry with my daughter while watching one of the Indiana Jones movies. First thing this morning my hubby and kids took me out to breakfast so I didn't have to cook. We tried a restaurant that we had not been to before, and I have to say that we were very pleased. If you are in the North Carolina area, you just have to try eating at Mac's Breakfast Anytime Restaurants. Everyone was super friendly and the food was excellent. There's nothing quite like getting home cookin' without actually doing the cooking and cleaning. ;)

Next, I got some really nice "letters" from my daughter. This is a big thing in our house because she had stated at the beginning of Kindergarten that she would "NEVER be able to read and write, EVER!" LOL Here it is the end of the school year and I have two lovely notes written on pink paper. These go straight into the scrapbook.

I know some of you have probably seen this already, but it is just so funny that I have to share. This is a must see video for all moms.

Isn't that funny? My son said it sounded just like me hounding him all day long. :)

I am working on getting some new items into the store. This week I will have a new action set, style set and a brag book created by CT member Juliana Gordon. Very busy week ahead! LOL Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

A Spring Garden Collection

Spring is right around the corner and I can't wait! I love being outdoors watching the kids, camera in hand and the smell of honeysuckle in the air. It's been raining here in North Carolina for days now, but as soon as it stops, I am planting my vegetable garden and replenishing the flowerbeds.

I cannot believe that another year has come and gone. Where does the time go? I am excited to say that it is quickly coming to my 3rd year design anniversary. Digital scrapping sure has changed over the years, hasn't it? Remember when bottle caps were a must? Who knows, they may come back with a vengeance, the stuff from the 80's did. Long time, no post...

Wow! It seems like forever since I last posted something here. Awhile back, my computer caught a nasty, I repeat, NASTY virus. I almost lost everything. Luckily, I found some really great guys that went above and beyond to repair the damage and save my files. Well, as many as they could, anyway. :) A HUGE thanks to Thomas and the guys down in Fayetteville for fixing up my "baby". They not only saved all of my work files, but years of photos. Yes, I said years. Shame on me for not backing up! I tend to back up my business things, but seem to slack on the personal, you know, the stuff I can't replace... I have definitely learned my lesson!

I am not fully back into the swing of things, but have been hard at work trying to get there. Tomorrow you will see a few new designer resource items and a sale announcement. :) There will be a call of sorts coming soon, I just need to iron out a few details and figure out how many positions I need. LOL

I just had to put together a set of quick pages from the Dreamscape Collection. I think this collection is still my favorite by far of anything I've created. Why? I would have to say the colors are what appeal to me in this set. Rich, bold and elegant with bits of lace, embroidery, it's just perfect for about any theme.

There are 10 pages in this set for only $4.50. Some of the pages work together as 2 page spreads, so this makes the album even more versatile. Mix and match. Gotta love that. :)

I was tagged by my friend and CT member Juliana yesterday to list 8 interesting things about myself. Now, I've had to really put on my thinking cap for this one because I am just not that interesting. LOL After reading her entry, I seem like an awfully boring person. Well, here goes nothin'!

1. I am what people politely refer to as petite. I call it just plain old short. I am almost 5' tall, just shy the last 3/4 of an inch. :) Sometimes when we are out where a school or church group has a gathering, people mistake me for one of the children until I turn around. Yes, even elementary kids too.

2. I am painfully shy IRL. Even through high school, I would look at my feet whenever someone would talk to me. When I entered college, I also started my first real job - a waitress at a popular pizza chain. I had to come out of my shell and that was certainly the way to do it! LOL I had to interact with lots of people for that job, so I quickly learned how to deal with all kinds of people. :)

3. I am originally from Arkansas. I love to go barefoot, hot weather & tornadoes don't bother me, and ain't is in my vocabulary. "Howdy ya'll! Howyadoin?" I have lost most of my accent, but tend to pick it up a little when we visit family there.

4. I was in the school choir for 6 years. Singing in a group didn't bother me for some reason. LOL One year, we were invited to sing at the state capitol. I am a bit cloudy on how many of us there were as this was SEVERAL years ago, but it was a large group. There were choir groups from all over the state there taking turns to preform. Our rather large group began singing Carol of the Bells (my personal favorite), and the governor, his wife and daughter came out on the balcony to hear us. We were the only group they stayed to listen to. :) Want to guess who they were? It was Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton, the early years. LOL

5. I only knew my husband for 3 months before we were married. We met in November 1996, married in February 1997. Three years later on our anniversary, our DS was born. :) What a great anniversary present!

6. I don't like most sports. I'm not sure why, I just don't enjoy them. I do however like a good rodeo, not on tv, but in person. Ride 'em cowboy! The only sport I watch on tv is Nascar racing. I am a huge Jeff Gordon fan! I also enjoy going to the dirt tracks & watching.

7. I have been a red head, a blond and a brunette. I have never colored my hair! I was born with red hair, but turned blond by age 2. As I got older, it gradually regained it's natural red highlights and I was back where I started. I remained strawberry blond until I had my DD about 5 years ago. My hair has turned a light brown since then with a strand of pure sparkling white here & there. Eek! I still do not color me hair. Thinking about it now though...

8. I absolutely love Christmas. I start popping in the holiday CDs a couple of months early. I love to decorate the tree and house. My favorite part now is seeing my children's eyes sparkle with utter joy as they find the gifts from Santa under the tree. I am awake before they are, waiting to hear them tip toe out to the tree to have the first peek. It's truly magical.

OMGosh! I did it! LOL I can't believe I found 8 things to write about. OK, I am now going to tag Jeanine, Jenn, Jennifer, and Lara. Let's hear it girls!

I have been receiving some wonderful comments from fellow scrappers. I have been a bit down lately because my youngest starts Kindergarten on Monday. Both of my sweet "babies" will be off to school soon and I am already missing them. :) These comments have been putting a smile on my face when I need it most.

The most recent comment was from gwacie and she shared a link to a layout she completed with one of my mini kits. This page is simply adorable! :) I totally appreciate every comment or link I get. It really makes my day to know that you enjoy my designs.

I even received a greeting card on Facebook from a friend today because she noticed that I was feeling a bit sad. What a sweet thing to do! I love connecting with other scrappers! Missing my "babies"

My 2 darling children just left for 2 weeks at my in-laws house. 12 hours away. It is just too quiet with them gone. They were so happy to see Nana, but as they got into the van to leave, my son starting screaming "I can't leave my Mommy!" Oh how that hurt. He wanted to go, but is feeling really anxious since Daddy is overseas. My poor baby felt like he was losing Mommy too. :( They both screamed & cried all the way down the drive way. My heart was breaking as they sped down the street.

At noon, I called my sister-in-law's cell to get an update & the kids were doing great. They were eating well and chattering away. My little guy promised that he'd call me at bed time to "tuck" me in. :) I am looking forward to that call so much. This is so hard and I cannot believe that I agreed to let them go for that long without me. What was I thinking? It's only been 6 hours and I'm already climbing the walls.

Not Goodbye, Just See you Later

Well, you may have noticed that I have not been around for awhile. Our family has been going through an adjustment, so I have had to focus all of my energy on the kids. Last week, my hubby was deployed to Iraq. He is active duty Air Force and we were prepared, but you can never really be ready. The kids are taking it so hard. There have been buckets of tears and many nightmares, but things are slowly coming closer to "normal". We get to talk to him for 15 minutes every other day and he emails regularly, so we are in contact with him. That really seems to calm our nerves a bit. :)

I have been staying busy with housework, the kids and some late night designing. VERY late. LOL I think my husband said it best when he hugged the kids right before getting onto his bus. "Remember, it's only for a little while. We're not saying goodbye, just see you later." I need a tissue...

Joshua McPickle and a Camel Named Bean

What a fun day today! The weather was beautiful, a bit warm, but beautiful. There was a light breeze to offset the heat and the kids just loved every minute of it. We stayed outside most of the day playing in the sandbox, playing badminton, swinging & the kids rode their bikes. Such a great alternative to their usual video game addiction. I got some cute pics of our D picking flowers too. :)

The funny moment for the day was when I was playing badminton with William, my 7 yr. old DS. He has such a great sense of humor and will always be my lil' funny man. We often joke when playing ball or some other game about the other person throwing out of bounds. Today, when I accidentally sent the birdie flying the wrong way this conversation began.

William: "Mom, I don't think he can hit it back."
Mom: "Who is that?"
William: "Well, it's the camel named Bean, of course."
Mom: "Oh, of course! How could I forget about Bean?"
William: "You just forget about things, Mom."

We played for another 5 minutes or so before he hit the birdie out of bounds in the other direction.

William: "Josh, you totally missed that one!"
Mom: "Josh?"
William: "Yep. That's what I said."
Mom: "OK, I give up. Josh who?"
William: "That's Joshua McPickle playing on that side today."
Mom: "Nice to meet you Josh."
William: "Mom, stop embarrassing me! I just made that up."

After a long day of play, we sat down & relaxed in the backyard and roasted some hot dogs & made S'mores. OK, the hubby and I did the cooking, the kids ran around with flashlights playing tag. Such a great day filled with so many "Kodak moments". With the everyday hustle & bustle, we don't have too many of those. ;)

The fish did WHAT?!

OK, time for a post about my fav show, Grey's Anatomy again. I guess I must be a bit sheltered or something because I had never heard of that little devil of a fish from last night's episode. I really thought they just made that up for the show. Not quite. You can read about the parasitical fish HERE on Wikipedia. Yikes! I will NEVER take a trip to the Amazon. Never! Poisonous frogs, huge snakes, piranhas, and now fish that like to go where no fish have gone before? No thank you! LOL

Now, on to Meredith & Dr. McDreamy. They are killing me. I was enjoying living my romantic dreams vicariously through them and now they take my dream away yet again. So she didn't swim. She's trying hard to now and he just won't let go that she had given up before. Wake up, McDreamy!! OK, I feel better now.

What's up with McSteamy? Giving Addison an out, since when has he had a heart? I like it. ;) I really think Alex should hook up with Jane Doe/Ava/Shannon. I like her spicy attitude. LOL

George is leaving. OK. I have no feelings on that one. I actually thought that the Izzy & George thing was a bit silly anyway and I personally do not like Callie's character. They could get rid of both George & Callie and I wouldn't even blink.

Well, we are on our Spring break and decided to head to visit my in-laws. There is limited Internet access, but I am managing to cut in here to blog. ;) I am one of those types of people that cannot sit still & just relax. I get bored, and I mean REALLY bored. Since I cannot scrap, I have read every book in the house and my magazines have been read cover to cover several times, I just had to find something to do. My mother-in-law suggested this little ball-shaped handheld game called 20 questions. I have never heard of this little wonder before, but it is a genius & highly addictive! I cannot put it down! OK, I did, but only for a minute so I could blog about it. LOL They come in different colors and subjects and are fairly inexpensive. I am getting one before I leave town, for the trip back. Twelve long hours worth. If you have not seen these things, click on over to their website HERE. You can even play online! It is just scary how much this thing knows! It's like it can read my mind...
